The first times we were visiting Paris, our stay was mainly centered around St. Germain. Slowly that moved to the other side of the Seine towards the Marais and a bit more east to Oberkampf and Canal St. Martin. But now the place to be is definitely SoPi in the 9th arrondissement near Pigalle. We already wrote about Hotel Amour and Buvette and now it´s time for a post about one of our other favorites: Le Dépanneur.
Le Dépanneur is an American-style diner and cocktail bar at the heart of SoPi. It offers a lovely terrace in summer on one of the busiest corners of the neighborhood, so a crowd is guaranteed here and especially on the weekends. Mexican tacos and delicious burgers are served: a popular combination with cocktails currently in Paris (think Candelaria and The Beef Club). It’s just not your regular burger though, but from the owners behind foodtruck Cantine California. Expect a laid-back, all American atmosphere with lots of wood giving you the feeling that (on a sunny day at least) you’re all of a sudden in LA or San Diego.
Burgers and tacos might not be your most obvious choice when spending a weekend in Paris, yet a burger could bring some variety in case you already had an typical French lunch, like we had at Chez Janou.
With a couple of friends, at a table for six, we enjoyed some Brooklyn Brewery beers and nachos, a great burger and some refreshing cocktails. Of course, ending the evening in style with tequilas! A night to remember…
