Lately, we’ve been exploring the Canal St Martin neighborhood and found some great places which we’d love to share with you of which Haï Kaï is definitely one of our favorites.

Still a relatively new restaurant, opened in January 2014, serving beautiful neo-bistro meals for both lunch and dinner by chef Amélie Darvas. The meals are inventive with fresh, high quality ingredients. And also healthy as the seasonal vegetables come from small local organic producers. Together, the ingredients blend remarkably delicious as a truly culinary surprise. Considering the prix-fixe menus are very reasonably priced (€17 for a two course lunch or €23 for three) for the tasty dishes coming out of the kitchen, Haï Kaï is a real must try bistro. The food is not only delicious on its own, it’s also is perfectly paired with refined (mainly French) wines. So you’ll be sipping from a crisp Chablis or full bodied Meursault together with a perfectly prepared mackerel from Bretagne with green asparagus or veal tartar paired with cauliflower mousse.

The place has every element to be a hipster hangout: cool neighborhood, great food, clean and minimal Scandinavian interior, beautiful art on the walls and ample of light coming in. So head over to Canal St Martin and try out Haï Kaï at Quai de Jemmapes. You could start with breakfast at Holybelly, which is around the corner, wander around Canal St Martin for some shopping, for example at bakery Du Pain et des Idées and some cool stores next door in Rue de Marseille and then head over to Haï Kaï for lunch. Enjoy!
